In 2003, Rev. Daniel R. Blackmond, Pastor of Now Faith Community Baptist Church, Inc. had a vision to develop a center where people of all ages in the Eastern Wake County communities could receive valuable health information along with enjoying recreational facilities suited to all ages. After working for two years to gather information and complete paperwork needed to obtain 501(c)(3) status, the documents were sent to Washington. In June 2006, Now Faith Community Development Center, Inc. was granted 501(c)(3) status. For the past 2 years, work has been concentrated on determining the organizational structure, selecting of additional Board members, networking with area agencies and addressing needs in the areas of Health Information and Awareness, Youth Academic and Educational Support, Family Life Issues and Recreational Activities. The CDC currently services approximately 16,000 people. The majority of the population is mainly Hispanic and African American with most household income falling below the poverty income level for one person of $13,000 per year.
